Liberalism gets a pretty bad rap for the political philosophy all of the people everyone supposedly agrees are bad (Nazis, t*nkies) are more opposed to than each other

It's especially galling because it defines a lot of people (suburban white swing voters, among others) who would say they hate liberals as liberals, and also ignores that outside of a very small number of basically elite thinkers the Right thinks the hard left are "liberals"

I posted something very mild about how I thought third party voting was unhelpful LAST YEAR and someone dug it up today, someone with a rose emoji, to respond "just say you hate the poors"

It’s especially confusing for those of us who came of age when “left” and “liberal” were synonymous.

I mean it's always been taught when you get to Poli sci or whatever that they're different but that's only really become important to American voters very recently
