Yeah - I mean, Starbucks is probably about as much of a slide down the middle of the country (possibly the world!) as there is. Other than some very deep coffee snobs, it's broadly liked, and probably has less *consumer* baggage than it even should.

And yet, it carries a remarkable amount of political baggage, somehow in both directions: a faceless corporation overcharging the masses for their sugar; an icon of effete urban liberalism.
