This is kind of the real problem of the US as a whole as well. We have an antiquated system based upon old compromises from largely no longer extant issues, that should really be entirely renegotiated.

A major weakness of our system is we didn't build in periodic constitutional conventions to review the functional expediency of our constitution as it relates to current reality of law and governance.

Yeah, it is trash. The Electoral College shouldn't have survived President Adams, the Senate should have been replaced with a proportional parliament after the Civil War, and ranked choice voting should have happened in the Progressive Era.
