To be fair, what he said was that people at home have 'more time' now, and that they're 'unbelievably selfish'. I love having childless young men lecture me on how to delegate my time. That's what I love.

A lot of people talk about how being 100% responsible for a small human's safety and welfare 24/7 is so stressful it just burns out your ability to give a shit about what happens to anyone else Which is certainly understandable, but kind of messed up

I kind of get the impression that having a kid is the first time a lot of people actually gave a shit about *anyone* but it's just empathy for that one person, not for anyone else.

I feel like a lot of people who become suddenly and accidentally conservative and selfish when they become parents argue that it's the first time their concern for another person was *real* and *concrete*, like the progressive slogans they believed before were just abstract

Which is totally accurate and a fair observation about many young liberals "You thought you cared about the homeless until your kids were living near them" It's just funny people think this proves the actual positions were wrong and not that they were always shitty people
