I feel like it's like this core part of these people's identity that everyone has a duty to have children for the sake of society, they're Christlike heroes for taking this burden upon themselves, and those of us who are shirking this duty are freeloading off of themhttps://twitter.com/OwenJones84/status/1260639247859580930 …

I don't even fucking know Like it does go beyond just being TERFs I mean Sarah already hated Owen over "trans issues" sure but she was moved to jump in apparently because any criticism of middle-class moms for doing anything makes her see blinding red

I'm not a middle-class mom or a TERF, and I normally like Owen (apart from that wobble when he renounced Corbyn in 2017 I think it was), but it ground the bejesus out of my gears when he started saying that people have more time now. Many, MANY people do not, children or no.

Well, yeah, and a lot of people whose lives are harder now are people who work as cleaners, and whose lives will become even harder if they or someone in their house gets sick

This whole line of argument is self-defeating You actually think that some people "need" cleaners "now more than ever" because staying home from the office means more mess to clean? Fine, then *let those people go to the office* instead

Let the middle-class office workers take the risk of infecting each other and infecting each other's families, but keep the cleaners at home It's absolutely insane that people think it's worth dying on the hill of "But I *want* to hire a maid and you should have empathy for me"
