They outsell CDs now! CDs were a transition format. Like phototype was between metal and digital. Nobody loved CDs. They were convenient. People love the physical imperfection and absurdity of vinyl; people love the utility of digital music.

A vinyl record is an extremely literal recording of audio, like it's the actual shape of the song in physical form (which is what "analogue" means) You don't need to know any encoding format to read it
