Trump is able to set media narratives because he's the president. I see ppl saying the press shouldn't let him do that but...being president gives you a lot of power. 1

the president can order the executive branch to do lots of things that the media has to report on. his plans are newsworthy. it's just not feasible that reporters aren't going to report on him.

and we need him to be reported on. people need warning, if nothing else.

even if you agree video streaming his press conferences live is a bad idea (which I do!), people still kind of need to know what he says in them.

there are certianly things the media can and should do around the edges, many of which they aren't doing because they suck. but our biggest problem isn't with the media. it's that trump is president in the first place.

There are literally people who think Trump supports dem stimulus ideas. Why do they think that? Because the media has run stories credulously parroting that he “wants” things he’s acted to block. Imagine if they covered him with the hostility they did Clinton:

1) every single story about healthcare would talk about how Trump was “acting in the shadow of his ongoing lawsuit to strip health coverage from millions of Americans by judicial fiat”

Nothing Trump says makes any sense or is consistent with anything else he says and yet the media treats it as their duty to be his stenographer And they did even before he was president

Honestly it was at its worst during the Republican primary, when the media was actively cheering him on as entertainment and widely broadcasting his brutal owns of Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio as heroic
