Trump is able to set media narratives because he's the president. I see ppl saying the press shouldn't let him do that but...being president gives you a lot of power. 1

the president can order the executive branch to do lots of things that the media has to report on. his plans are newsworthy. it's just not feasible that reporters aren't going to report on him.

and we need him to be reported on. people need warning, if nothing else.

even if you agree video streaming his press conferences live is a bad idea (which I do!), people still kind of need to know what he says in them.

there are certianly things the media can and should do around the edges, many of which they aren't doing because they suck. but our biggest problem isn't with the media. it's that trump is president in the first place.

I don't really see an argument for the media not being the primary reason Trump is president in the first place tbh

I had a journalist privately tell me in 2016 "If Trump wins everyone will be coming to burn down our office with torches and pitchforks and I'm not sure we wouldn't deserve it"

Like it's hard to exaggerate how much the election was framed as focusing on Hillary's scandals and problems for months while Trump kept making inroads as the "anti-Hillary", until people went "Oh shit" sometime in April
