Random thought of the morning: Bob Parr (aka Mr. Incredible) probably saved way more people's lives as an insurance adjuster who helped people navigate a corrupt insurance system than he ever did as a superhero.

I mean, he was actively being prevented from that and punished though, and being sneaky wasn't exactly his super power so I kinda doubt it? To be fair to the character, I really think he could have settled and enjoyed the job if he WAS able to do that every time.

Of course they'll notice if all the claims that go past your desk end up getting paid, that's money out of their pocket It's no different than if he worked at the supermarket and was giving away free groceries

Yeah nah. Grocery stores sell you grocery; these customers literally *bought* their policy. Theoretically your insurance company is supposed to, like, insure you. It’s in the title.

Yeah but they have every economic incentive not to. This is why regulation of insurance is so necessary and often so corrupt.

It is very different: he was helping insured clients navigate the system to obtain what was rightful theirs (indemnity for a covered loss) What Insuracare was doing is almost certainly fraud.

Insurance is one of the few areas of law where American law in many jurisdictions permits punitive damages for breach of contract because it’s such a relationship of trust with the possibility of exploitation.
