A fun fact about Monopoly is it was originally invented by a woman as a game about the evils of landlords and bloodthirsty capitalism. Her idea was stolen by a dude who got ludicrously rich by selling it to the Parker Brothers and taking credit for the idea

It actually goes deeper. There were several different knockoffs that were in print at the time. And it seems that Darrow's was the one that was either marketed best or sold best because that was the one that finally got PB's attention after he failed to sell it to PB
