I think my curse has always been there's a lot of books people generally dislike because they were "shoved down their throats by English teachers" and I happen to usually genuinely really enjoy them

Even then, I have been prone to arguing that, even unintentionally, the film kind of pulls the book's "which is the real monster" because the Creature is childlike and innocent, while Frankenstein is a raving lunatic with a God Complex.

Oh no it absolutely does, the film's Monster and Lennie from Of Mice and Men are very similar and their deaths are both a tragedy

I'm one of the few people nowadays to read book Frankenstein before seeing movie Frankenstein, and I find the dynamic between Book!Victor and the monster much more compelling than the dynamic between Movie!Victor and the monster (I still like the movie!)
