It's not even that, it's this simple logical "Hey if you're complaining about having too much stuff, get rid of some stuff" Like the woo-woo packaging of "Does it spark joy" and thanking objects for their service is a strategy to get people to accept what is actually just mathhttps://twitter.com/abbygov/status/1258982881059315715 …

I think that's very true in many cases but this is a repackaging of some spiritual design elements watered down for western consumption too. Basically, some people have such a low tolerance they can get drunk on even weak drinks.

There's also the anxiety element people have about throwing things out. Using emotional language towards the object helps people with those issue. Almost like, "If you really cared about that person you would tell them to go follow their dream rather than stay with you."

But she does the exact opposite Like she starts her consultation by having them go around to each room in the house and thanking the house for its shelter and protection She cranks *up* the sentimentality

Where should the culture be on this then? I'm not going to pretend I understand Heidegger or feng shui but I have lived in a materialistic culture my whole life. I wish I knew what's the best approach.
