    1. The Lady Weird Sloth Cow‏ @CaseyExplosion 9 May 2020

That Glinner actually said to Anita Sarkeesian "I didn't support you during g*merg*te just so you could turn around and support trans people" typifies his view of women; that he is owed something for being an ally. Just like a misogynist who thinks he's owed sex for being nice.

That he crowed for years that everyone should listen to a handful of bigoted women who agreed with him, yet when even they asked him to stop, he refused to listen to them, shows how he only ever thought of them as props to be used for his purposes.

Have you ever watched his interview with Meghan Murphy? It's fascinating in that, he clearly can't tell when she would like to speak, and she clearly disagrees with what were, at the time, his more moderate views, but sees him as a useful idiot.

There's also a genuinely sympathetic moment, in which he makes it clear that there was a time where he actually understood the IT Crowd criticism and felt bad about it. Which is why I always say people overestimate it's importance.

Yes, I now subscribe to the theory that he retroactively took back his trans allyship because the jabs from the right about how the trans women grew was kind of being creepy at were "just men in dresses" got to him

I think, honestly, people like the IT Crowd explanation because it makes his issue seem older, and for him, he gets to blame his behaviour, in a way, on trans people. "I did relatively harmless thing, and they came after me."

Much more troubling is the idea that in the space of a couple of years, a relatively small group of people in private conversations radicalised him, and sent him out the door to be the celebrity face of academic transphobia.
