That Glinner actually said to Anita Sarkeesian "I didn't support you during g*merg*te just so you could turn around and support trans people" typifies his view of women; that he is owed something for being an ally. Just like a misogynist who thinks he's owed sex for being nice.

I think, honestly, people like the IT Crowd explanation because it makes his issue seem older, and for him, he gets to blame his behaviour, in a way, on trans people. "I did relatively harmless thing, and they came after me."

Much more troubling is the idea that in the space of a couple of years, a relatively small group of people in private conversations radicalised him, and sent him out the door to be the celebrity face of academic transphobia.
