If Yellowstone erupted tonight, what effect would that have on COVID-19?

I'm not sure I know the distinction. I assume exploded is worse.

Technically they'd both be eruptions, but the "worst case scenario" version is the whole thing (the "Yellowstone Supervolcano") builds up and blows all at once instead of smaller eruptions/leaks, so the lava flow is preceded by basically an explosion they blows the surface open..

...that happens? Most of the West Coast (already in shambles by the preceding quakes) is just gone, and inches-deep volcanic ash potentially buries the Midwest as far as... hell, could stretch to the Great Lakes.

Ah. I was kind of hoping the answer would be "blackening the sky and filling the air with toxic smoke for a month or so makes people actually stay home and ends the epidemic"

I'm trying to find the best apocalypse to hope for to counter this apocalypse, like when they find someone to fight Godzilla I guess we may have to build MechaCOVID

I think Triffids might do it, if people could actually see the problem they'd be more likely to stay home. I'm aware of the irony of using Triffids as an example of seeable threats.

A sufficient density of feral hogs might also work.

I bet the virus could mutate to infect hogs, though, is the thing

We already know it's capable of jumping species, not just because that's where it came from in the first place but because of the reports of dogs, cats and tigers getting infected

Damn...a big angry hog carrying covid-19 is actually more threatening than a zombie...wow.
