Trust me I have engaged with it to a mind numbing extent. You may not be aware that one of my specific focus is the demonisation & exclusion of parents from our children’s lives. It’s a cult tactic. That was the context for my response.

How the hell are you people still pretending to be "radical feminists" and not just conservatives When are you going to just take the fucking mask off and just say that you're Tories and campaign with the Tories so we can stop playing these games

"What happened to respecting your elders? Don't parents get a say in their adult children's lives? We're the older and wiser generation after all" Good Lord

I'm sorry but do abusive parents just *not* exist in these people's heads? Cause if you are totally unable to comprehend the idea of an LGBTQ+ person hiding themselves and interests from their parents then you officially need to stop talking about LGBTQ+ issues.

No, they don't Lily Maynard's entire thesis is just "I am a cool and chill person who is not a mean bigot and therefore all parents of my age are as well" She thinks this is a clever winning argument

Okay so if you magnanimously concede that maybe "some of" Grace Lavery's students actually are at risk from parents who actually are abusive, then Grace is correct and her concerns are valid, aren't they

Almost like if "some" students are in this situation and Grace was talking about those students the entire rest of your article was an unnecessary narcissistic blast of hot wind

Almost as if Grace was trying to be sure that her vulnerable students were 'safeguarded' against potentially abusive parents. Crazy stuff.

Grace even went to clarify that although her primary concern was abuse that she's well aware many parents aren't abusive and yet coming out to supportive, decent parents is an emotionally harrowing experience for many gay kids

It's the kind of thing that you'd think a parent who claims to remember being young so vividly would have some empathy for The kid who waits to go to college so they can just be gay and not have to "come out" to anyone as gay is a well worn stereotype
