Huh, I just thought of something in Spore Zombie Game. So remember the part where E. shoots the deer and then ends up teamed up with Nolan North's character, David, the secret cannibal pederast, for a boss fight?

And then later, she uses it as a big reveal to scare him when he's holding her prisoner that she's infected? Except, he should already know and here's why

    3. Dr. Ellie Lockhart. Republic serial villain.‏ @BootlegGirl 8 May 2020

During the fight against the Infected who attack E. and David, they fight a Bloater, an enemy which throws spores. For normal non-infected people this causes injury or death or else infects them. J. takes damage when he gets hit by Bloater spores.

But E. does not take damage - the Bloater cannot do damage to her unless it gets in melee range. So David has seen E. breath a LOT of spores (which is the thing that convinces Tommy she's immune)

It's also interesting that the Infected can recognize their own and do not attack one another, but they do attack E. just like a normal human

Probably they recognize each other behaviorally, not because they can magically smell infection or whatever

(This absurdly complex version of the Cordyceps fungus doesn't really make sense, but I would argue that giving humans behavioral instincts to recognize other infected humans makes more sense than magically boosting the human sense of smell)
