It's just funny because the Australians were like "The remake removes the main thing that was funny about the original which is that Kath and Kim are the same age irl" and the US people were like "But why is that funny" and the Australians were like "It isn't that funny really"

Kath and Kim is incredibly difficult to explain in that it's funny to a lot of Australians (especially LGBTQ folk) but no one can really explain _why_ in a way that makes sense to foreigners? It's lots of extremely specific cultural humour.
