Like it wouldn't bother me so much if it were the actual anniversary of the movies coming out or an actual date from within the story of the movie but of course it isn't It's some fandom joke someone made at some point that got out of hand

I looked it up and Star Wars fandom, which has existed for more than forty years now, didn't even start celebrating "Star Wars Day" on May 4th until 2011, after people on Facebook started making it into a thing in 2008 Thanks Facebook
