One problem with this particular debate is that "genocide" simply isn't a meaningful term anymore—and probably never was. Time to retire it.

Genocide is the attempt to *change the world* so that "X kind of person doesn't exist anymore" It's not just "one motive for murder among many" unless you have a shitty worldview that doesn't think cultures and identities have any value in themselves, which it seems like you do
