Y'know what I like about this? Caleb's putting his whole body into his casting. When I think of wizards, my first thought is of stoic individuals who stand stiffly and only wave their staff or move their arms/hands to cast. This is a whole new perception.https://twitter.com/archillustrates/status/1256276561029926914 …

I like the idea that, depending on the spell and the caster, it’s sometimes extremely physically taxing, like throwing an axe, sometimes graceful like a dance, and sometimes just a distracted finger wave in the air from a crotchety old professor who can’t be bothered. -Jen

Yeah! Like, I’d think new spells would be more taxing until the Wizard gets used to them, and then higher level spells are always physically/mentally demanding because of the power level.

That makes a lot of sense! Like, prestidigitation as a casual tossed-off gesture vs having to really your back and your core into fireballs, at least until you get experienced enough to do them more efficiently,

And the extreme version of this is metamagic feats like Still Spell or Silent Spell (or both) turning it into a pure effort of will, at the cost of using a lot more power (I dunno if that's still a thing in this edition) Like wandless magic in Harry Potter
