The phrase ‘the n-word’ is a full 2 characters shorter than the actual word with quotation marks, that’s a huge amount of twitter capital to give up, this guy clearly has a lot of important things to say with those two extra characters

Actually "the n-word" is two characters longer, not shorter. But like "the f-word" it's a mealy-mouthed cop-out.

If you're writing ABOUT the word "fuck", and you're not prepared to actually type out the letters F-U-C-K, you look foolish

That's only because "fuck" isn't all that bad a word. Not all taboos are equal. If someone is discussing a topic involving, say, extreme violence, they don't need to attach pictures of the violence for the sake of some point about how "objective" or "unemotional" they are

Who, in any conversation, gratuitously whips out a photo of whatever it is they're talking about?

I understand the taboo on "nigger": I would never, ever use the word. But when the taboo extends to even MENTIONING it, it's gone too far.

Personally I suspect "the n-word" adds to the power of the racial insult it refers to, so I avoid THAT phrase.

And maybe I'm wrong! But at least I allow others the right to their own expressions, provided there's no malice in them.

How are you still dying on this hill

Another irregular verb: I make principled stands for my entirely reasonable opinions You "die on this hill"

I mean, no, you don't, you go on for literally days about how you have a constitutional right to say the n-word as long as it has quotation marks around it and by so doing you're actually helping Black people by diluting the word's power or whatever
