That sacrificing people's health to boost any economy that doesn't actually benefit them in any way is evil This isn't hard

Let's try an exercise: let's see if you can understand the point of view of someone who thinks differently to you.

Not me, in this case. I favour Sweden's social safety net stuff—and I honestly don't if Sweden's no-lockdown policy is correct...

But let's try to imagine the point of view of someone who thinks otherwise. Let's start with the no-lockdown policy.

One argument in favour of that is that the policy has a straightforward MEDICAL justification:https://www.spiked-online.com/2020/04/29/delaying-herd-immunity-is-costing-lives/ …

Now that if THAT'S the reason someone favours no-lockdown, then Sweden's other social arrangements are a completely unrelated topic.

Now take the economic argument: having people moving around results in a more robust economy, which may be worth a little extra mortality.

Here your objection is a little weird. Surely the improved economy benefits EVERYONE, to some degree? (Except those who die, of course.)

Yes, Henry, the whole point is that even if we grant your absurd idea of a booming economy while bodies are incidentally piling up in the hospitals, the people who are dying obviously are not benefiting from that economy

Moreover, as long as I'm hospitalized and NOBODY IS PAYING MY MEDICAL BILLS FOR ME, obviously I'm not benefiting from the economic activity generated by opening jobs back up because I CAN'T WORK WHILE I'M ON A VENTILATOR My economic prospects have been sacrificed for yours

Again, this is not terribly difficult to understand Anyone who's actually had a family member hospitalized or dying while out of work and/or uninsured understands it very starkly
