Is Michael Burham a Discovery character? I'm confused by this thread.

Yes. She is Spock's human, adopted sister, who was abandoned by a time traveling mother who sacrificed herself to become a giant mecha that protected her through her life so one day she could pilot it. She started Starfleet's first mutiny and the war w the Klingons

Not precisely. She's physically alive, depending on the time suit for jumps throughout time to protect Michael and influence the course of history. IIRC she dies shortly after being removed from it, and Michael has to take over piloting it bc of the genetic similarity

Then Discovery gets e-infected with Future Robot Disease and so to stop them from becoming the singularity Michael has to use the mech to drag them forward past the known date of the singularity, which now presumably happens because of Picard

Oh and the Klingons killed her family bc they wanted the time robots to happen, this is presumably a major reason why the Klingons and Romulans have been rivals besides stealing each other's ship designs for generations

Thanks to the last two seasons of canon Star Trek has a new temporal cold war and it is caused by the Reapers, basically

I mean, 'Temporal cold war' isn't a new idea to star trek; it was at least initially a major theme in Enterprise. ...also, I personally think that's a super cool idea, and wish I had the wherewithal to write that kind of story.

No I know, it's just this is a different temporal cold war than the one in Enterprise

I'd love to see the Starfleet time police explaining the real reason for their work is "every time you people pull this protagonist sht, you know what you risk unleashing? THE REAPERS! And you know what happens when you unleash the Reapers? MORE PROTAGONISTS WHO PULL THIS SHT!"
