One thing the post snap world has which The Leftovers world lacked is a reason. The Snap is known to be the act of an alien asshole, and you're probably spot on that some would worship him, but one of the voids destroying The Leftovers world is not knowing what happened or why

Yeah, that's definitely a big deal. Thanos very clearly arrived and killed a whole bunch of people, admittedly by magical means. But those were murders, not something ambiguous. They just had magic to fix it.

That's entirely TRUE, but something that I think we have to just accept for the sake of the genre. I mean, it's not even really their first rodeo.

I think you can also be rather fast and loose with that "back to normal" feeling from movie to movie, even at the expense of a coherent canon. So you can have a very grim, depression-focused story while also doing a normal SPRING BREAK spiderman movie.
