I feel like society wouldn't survive a gender-ignorant 50% Snap any better than it survived the mostly-male 50% Thing in Y the Last Man. Things don't instantly scale down 50%; they fall apart because key people are gone.

I always appreciated that the comic repeatedly pointed out that the death of 50% of all HUMAN BEINGS was a moral monstrosity and civilizational disaster that outweighed any stupid hot take you could have about the meaning of it being the death of all men specifically
