I mean, in the sense that water flowing downhill has a "goal", sure, and in the same sense that if the direction the land slopes suddenly changes then the river's course and its eventual "goal" change just as suddenly

"Evolution" is just a name for the tautology that *if* you're in a situation where a lot of random things are constantly happening, and certain things happen in a way that make it more likely for those things to repeat, then those are the things you will see continuing to happen

Please dont do that. I'm honest enough with myself to freely admit that I dont know and neither do you. I am not however going to discount any view because of how uncomfortable it makes me. I'm simply raising question from your points in the desire to learn.

Anyone who understands the causal detail of how evolution works *does* know there is no goal. For evolution to evolve *to* something would require time travel.
