I think it's worth noting that "Chosen One" emerged as a definite trope of fiction *during our generation*. It was around before, but the whole idea of a singular, chosen heroic savior wasn't nearly as pronounced before Harry Potter, Star Wars,and a few other properties got there

Oh man You know the initial embryo of the idea for A Very Potter Musical was them vaguely wanting to do a serious drama about a millennial whose childhood revolved around Harry Potter fandom and whose real life ends up being a disappointing tragedy

Hence the surprisingly high quality songs "Going Back to Hogwarts" was a metaphor about going back to a high school reunion and reminiscing about his glory days "When I Was Harry Potter" was about childhood being the last time he felt like the protagonist of his own life
