It's really missing the point, and I know LJG is smart enough to know that because she is, herself, a trans celebrity.

The reason to bring up BA outing LW is not, in fact, to defend the honor of a filmmaker who is currently employed spending millions of dollars to direct the fourth movie in her movie series starring Hollywood A-listers, but to demonstrate that BA is a dishonorable backstabber

His tr*sc*m ideology is actually the thing that should be the primary reason to not associate with him, but I don't get why these high-profile trans women keep associating with him for clout when the LW thing demonstrates that such things end poorly for the trans women

Frankly, I don't get what he has to offer these women. First C*ntra and now LJG, both of them say this sht about how he was supposedly an inspiration to them... like, I literally do not believe it. I do not believe that they were transmasc porn fans and he inspired them.

Oh I dunno people used to invoke Buck Angel to win arguments all the time, often as a visual aid The whole "You want this guy in a women's restroom?" thing

Buck was the OG version of that big Texan in the ladies room with his cowboy hat on. Buck’s existence forced people to deal with passing as a fact. I super get he’s out of the zeitgeist now and vocal enough about it to be a problem but a lot of trans space wouldn’t exist w/o him.

I dunno. Obviously I'm out of touch too. I don't ever recall hearing about him until the "it gets better" stuff and that we just him being RTed participating in it. And I followed trans culture from about 2007 forward at the most conservative estimate

Like I guess maybe the subset of people who were already arguing with T*RFs on here back then knew him as an argument piece? But he certainly never came up to any of the many trans women I knew who came out prior to me between 07 and 13

Like, it was Buck and a tertiary friend deciding to transition in ‘94-‘95 that made me understand trans even being like...a thing some people needed to be whole. Admittedly, I was growing up in a place where Hibernia Beach was on the FM.

OK, yeah, clearly we have a cultural break here. I have no idea what "Hibernia Beach" is either.
