Does identity politics presume a static identity? Does it allow for an account of structures of oppression such as patriarchy affecting people who wouldn’t consider themselves women?

I've seen an interesting permutation of this, the stupidpol brand, where it's Marxist reactionaries complaining that identity politics distracts from real class struggle And these people are so chronically distracted by weird things other leftists are doing they ignore the right

It's in these communities where I see ideas like, "we should reform the GOP because they're closer to us in terms of class politics" (???????) and leftists thinking the DNC is the root of all of America's problems and far more insidious than the GOP

They dismiss identity politics as something that doesn’t apply to them—white cishet male is the default position, outside of any difference markers

As I like to put it, the people accused of identity politics aren't the ones who politicized their identities in the first place.
