Well, it was always that the coming of age of the *oldest* members of the cohort was around the millennium, just like only the oldest Boomers were actually born in the immediate post-war baby boom (I know the demographic boom was longer)

Yeah, but this time they just kept calling young people millennials. To the point where I'm pretty sure a lot of people think it means *born* at or about the millennium.
