In fact ISTR one of my grandmother’s friends telling me how her first job when she was 16 was patrolling during air raids, and one of the things she was watching for was improperly blacked out windows.

Nah, they would ask how bad the Nazi occupation would be and would gladly cooperate with them. We are talking about people who think that killing millions is perfectly acceptable for a little comfort and is even desirable since the virus kills the poor and the sick.
