That’s actually a good example: just as economists can’t predict where the stock market will be tomorrow, but can build models predict returns on over the next thirty years, compare them for accuracy, and then build better models, epidemiology predicts populations not individuals

The models they built for R0 = 3.5 w/ variable presentation such that many folk are asymptomatic carriers for significant periods of time but others suffer respiratory failure is… a very scary model. And it fits the data quite well!

He died for vanity and arrogance, not for God. Get Zoom and protect your parishioners from a plague.

It is legitimately very challenging for a pastor to keep people's spirits up and maintain a smart of community when the material situation has upended everyone's routine A GOOD pastor tries to MEET that challenge, he doesn't just ignore it and get people killed

Yeah, I mean, figuring out the right thing to do is very difficult, but the WRONG thing - this - isn't hard.

It was courageous, in the sense that it risked danger, yes. But it's the opposite of leadership. He took risks for himself, and put pressure on his parishioners to do the same. They're not better off for it, and his family is pleading with people not to follow that example.

I would feel differently if he were going to the homes of sick members of his flock, at personal risk, to offer them care and comfort. But he did the opposite, bringing people into public, and denying them comfort and safety.

Even that wouldn't be a great thing to do, he ends up being a carrier from one house to the other

Yeah, good point, it's not a great example. But at least something with a purpose.
