No worries, I've been really confident about knowing facts plenty of times that turned out to be false, I've even lost money because of it

It is a bit darkly funny that since purchasing LucasFilm, Disney now owns both of these franchises.

I was a little sad they didn't make a Guybrush figure for Disney Infinty

Unrelatedly, I can't imagine my first experience of video games being Myst. Would definitely put me off the whole genre

I could swear that urban legend came from someone who was close to the canceled ILM Monkey Island animated movie (canceled before ILM worked on POTC) writing about it online in a vague-as-to-not-get-in-trouble but still easily discernible way, but now I can’t find it.

Claims of Russo/Elliott’s involvement with the canceled MI movie or any crossover with PotC is, as mentioned in the article, shaky. Yet, it is equally likely that some visual cues/ideas/etc. were borrowed from the game. (Coffin boat, etc.) Glad you found the article informative!
