Presumably non-binary yes. Does that happen to anyone in ME?

Between 1 and 2, its the explanation for any femShep, as in 1 (like Saints Row) you could only be a guy. Shepard dies in a ship destruction and gets rebuilt completely, sometimes as a girl, as I recall.

What? You could be femShep from the start. That's true of Saints Row but not ME

Hmm... was there a remake? From what I recall theres actual commentary on it if you make a femShep in 2, its quickly passed over but it is there.

...no. I'm sorry, but you're completely off base on this. You can never change an imported Shepard's gender, and as I said, I bought a 360 to play the game when it first released and played femShep

Like, here's how you know this for sure There was actual controversy with conservative Christians protesting that femShep can sleep with Liara

In fact the original character designer showed off the very first wire frame animations for Sheppard they ever made for the proof off concept for ME1 a while back and Shep was a woman in those.

They always intended to allow both, but they designed femshep first.

Huh. The marketing for the first two games was so male!shep centric that I always assumed that they’d made them with fem!shep as more of an afterthought. Shows me.

I suspect doing femshep first was an intentional move on the designer’s part. There’s always pressure to cut corners so if they did mShep first there might have been pressure to only have the one. But there was no way the publisher would have signed off on a version without mShep

There is some stuff like the unfortunate stuff with Shepard in an evening dress flashing the whole room when she sits down, although that's less "the animation assumes Shepard is male" than "the animation assumes Shepard is wearing pants"

Tbh I have no idea why femshep wore an evening dress in formal situations. A dress uniform seems much more appropriate for the character.

The dress was introduced for Kasumi's DLC and Shepard was masquerading as a random mercenary/pirate boss, not herself
