Of all the different factions the whole "We will NOT repeat the mistakes of Earth" thing honestly fits her the most And it's the most satisfying answer, the fakeout with everyone thinking of her as the good guy even though Morgan calls her out on being as fanatical as anyone

Yang is the in-universe red herring, of course Yang has the most obvious reason to kill Garland and try to seize absolute power, that's why he'd be too smart to actually do it and get everyone to turn on him over it
