The thing being, of course, that Godzilla and Mechagodzilla both do exactly the wrong thing I just mentioned where they stand and move like a human in a suit (because, obviously, they are a human in a suit) and they're also 20x the height of a T Rex (5 meters vs 100+ meters)

It's the whole thing where kaiju don't have any biological adaptations to being absurdly huge for a land dwelling animal because they're played by a guy in a rubber suit on a miniature set that makes them extra surreal implies their bodies are many times denser than steel etc

I mean Shin Godzilla is in the same mold as the Angels from Eva where they were, like, abstract Lovecraftian horror

True, but I took part of the horror to be the implication that Godzilla himself was in agony specifically bc of the square cube law

You can probably imagine the ending so I won't go into it but it prominently features him screaming in agony "I'M TOO BIG, OH GOD, I'M TOO BIG"

Morals of the twilight zone: - Don't be greedy. - Don't be the hound dog of an Authoritarian State. - Be nice to dolls. - Don't let fear boil into hate. - Don't...wish to be big?

It's the same "Love yourself for who you are" thing as Eye of the Beholder but much clumsier and more mean-spirited toward the person
