They said that he violated OPSEC and hurt the National Security of the United States by revealing information about the status of a key American Defense Asset in a manner that lead to it becoming public knowledge which then reached our adversaries. They are right.

That carrier was going to be out of commission and its status was going to become public knowledge one way or the other, the only question was how many sailors would get sick and die first The basic fact of how viruses work continually escapes Team Trump

Hey, fun fact, this same thing happened 120 years ago in the Spanish-American War The whole Fifth Army Corps was coming down with yellow fever and the government was in denial about it, they refused to relieve the troops because they thought it would show weakness

So a bunch of officers in the chain of command circulated a letter (the "Round Robin Letter") and signed their names to it, then sent it to DC knowing it would be leaked to the presshttps://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Round-Robin_Letter_(Spanish%E2%80%93American_War) …

It was a huge humiliation for the McKinley administration and they threatened retaliation but public opinion rapidly turned against them In hindsight it seems clear that this action saved those soldiers' lives, which otherwise would've been wasted for no purpose

The most famous signatory of the Round-Robin_Letter was a young colonel named Theodore Roosevelt The incident helped cement his reputation for personal honor and courage that he built his political career onhttps://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Round-Robin_Letter_(Spanish%E2%80%93American_War) …
