My University Prof talked about how what we consider classical art today used to be low-brow mass-entertainment and/or not worth much at all by critics of their time, but had enough universal/timeless appeal to become perceived as art eventually. This feels like that.

It's honestly probably greatly exaggerated how many words Shakespeare invented, as opposed to a lot of words having their earliest attestation in Shakespeare just because a lot more of his work survived in print It's like saying the writers of New Girl actually invented "totes"
