Bernie Post-Mortem: He was winning, and then his opponents did something unprecedented to stop him. Everything else is window dressing. And if Team Biden was smart, they would be making massive efforts to heal the wound caused by that unprecedented move.

still of two minds on this. seems extremely doubtful he would have gained much by being more aggressive since "Sanders is too angry and mean" is already the primary attack line against him. Maybe would have felt good for us but I'm not sure it would have convinced anyone else

There's all sorts of "fine tuning" you could talk about, but at the end of the day Bernie was knocked out of the lead by a stunningly effective political masterstroke. It just so happens that audacious maneuver was extremely corrosive to the unity of the party.

honestly legit confused, speaking as a person who dislikes Bernie, also dislikes Biden, but has more of an issue with people not backing Biden: what exactly is the political masterstroke you think Biden pulled off? Because it would be reassuring to think he's not ahead by accident

I mean... It's really not that much of a masterstroke Pete and Amy were really obviously no-hopers going into Super Tuesday and, whatever you think about the steps Obama may have taken on Biden's behalf to secure their support, it seems pretty obvious Bernie never had it

Shit the fact that Bernie supporters on Twitter *attacked Bernie* for saying "We welcome Pete's supporters into our tent" *after Pete had already dropped out* says it all He was locked into this disastrous 30% strategy - "We already have all the voters we need, thank you"

In fact it's that hardline "bend the knee" stance from Bernie's camp that may have forced this early maneuver I mean yeah under other circumstances the also-rans might stay in until the convention to build up more delegates to make deals, but not this year

Because Sanders made it clear that the whole "Let's stay in it until July and if the leader still doesn't have a plurality by then we can use our delegates as bargaining chips" plan was off the table He's in it to win it, period, there will be no corrupt deals made, etc
