The impression they gave that they think Joe Rogan is in fact very very important and that getting his fans on board is a huge prize they've been lusting after is a bad impression It makes me (and many other people) lose respect for the team

I feel like it was fairly obvious what the Sanders campaign was trying to do there: To show that it could actually acquire non-voters and groups that the Democrats couldn't usually appeal to. That doesn't really answer the point you're responding to though.
