The eventual bulk of the servicemen in the 442nd were drafted Although the existence of volunteers who signed up while interned is of great historical/symbolic significance, there were never that many of them (on the order of hundreds out of thousands)

You'd think someone who had "extensively studied" the time period would know this, or know about the many men in the camps who were "no-no boys" (answering "no" to both questions on the questionnaire demanding registration for the draft and a loyalty oath)
