I'm still pretty dumbfounded by the complaints that The Last Of Us 2 will be homophobic because it's not going to have an affirming queer love story with a happy ending. Like, do they think the hets get those in this kind of game? Did they even play the first one?

What weirds me out most is these are the same folks who are the most likely to be acutely aware of threats to queer people IRL, and post panicked threads that worry everyone else, but apparently need their escapism to be completely separated from what they see as reality

The same kind of person will have a thread about how queer people are all going to die from the coronavirus IRL but insist that queer people can't die in the zombie game

It pisses me off enough that while I'm not a fan of Steven Universe in general I'm glad it ended grimly

It didn’t, though; the final episode ended with Steven forcing all his friends to admit they will miss him terribly when he goes off to travel the world. He wins (like always).

A "win" for Steven for during SUF would be everything staying exactly as it was and everyone continuing to need him, with no character growth or change for anyone. Hence literally naming his helpless plants after people. Steven was basically turning into White Diamond.
