Even in a full communist utopia, if there's any fork of social reward for creating artwork at all (Whuffie or whatever) there has to be a way to assign it based on whether people actually consumed it and gained enjoyment from it rather than just that you did it
The main thing "sharing culture" has done is normalize the idea that "This is good enough for me to read once, or good enough for me to rip off the art for a pfp, or good enough to share to promote my own feed, but not good enough to PAY for"

Sad but true. This is a reason why I dig for every avenue to support media makers, be they musicians, cinema, or books. It is a pain having over a dozen ebook readers, but worth it.
