... they really went with "humanity is entitled to art!!!" huh. I can't tell if this is a lack of humanities education, or just a horrible misuse of one. It's like they saw the phrase "Art is for the people" but took it completely out of context.

I wonder how much of this relates to the way some so-called Left Socialists find common ground with Rightwing Fascists: they see creatives as degenerates and are torn between enjoying video games and music etc. and fantasizing about seeing all artists put into forced labour camps

I just don't see how excluding poor people from consuming *some* art is more bad than excluding them from creating art by making full-time art an occupation for the independently wealthy.

That person also said in their thread that ideally artists would be members of artistic collectives/establishments that would support them materially, to which... yay, either be independently wealthy or pass through some gatekeeping, that would be great for the culture.
