Yeah the thing about Chapo's disgust for The West Wing is their whole deal is just a mirror image of Sorkin's - the idea that wit and snark and public disrespect is the secret weapon that brings down tyrants (and, indeed, the only weapon used by trustworthy people of character)https://twitter.com/Danofran/status/1243218940475498496 …

The idea that being an asshole is PRODUCTIVE, that the catharsis you feel when you finally tell someone off is somehow proof you've accomplished something, the idea that most people aren't assholes because they're too stupid or cowardly as opposed to because it doesn't work
-
Counterpoint: almost everything the Republican party has done for the last decade. That's more an exercise in raw power, so the lesson isn't "be an asshole indiscriminately", but the left should learn *something* from it.

Also; you're allowed to indulge in that delusion, or at least to prefer one flavor of that delusion to another. I dig Sorkin's writing, but also I would have to be out of my mind to think that somebody should let him run a political movement.
-
Way too many people who hate him and who adore him(and even Sorkin himself) treat Sorkin like a political intellectual but he's literally just a screenwriter and he should be allowed to just be that and have stupid opinions while he's at it.
