Lol the dude version of Marvel's Captain Marvel (Mar-Vell) is an extremely obscure character, you have to remind people he exists In real life when people talk about the dude "Captain Marvel" they mean the old school Shazam, which Marvel Comics never had the rights tohttps://twitter.com/IanStansfield14/status/1241811783293247494 …

That even made it into the 90's cartoon so it's definitely relevant.

I'm mildly curious how many of the people whinging about Captain Mar-Vell were even alive when the character died.

the eldest millenial should had been like 5 year old, tops. So, millenials didnt "new" the character, unless they were prodigy childs that learn to read at age 3 or 4 and their parends got them comics for new age hippies.

even for "hardcore" comics nerds, Mar-Vell is just "that sups that died from cancer", nerds like to confuse "i know this shit" with "this shit is very important"

As a near total outsider to comics, my knowledge of Captain Marvel: Oh yeah, the super popular recent character named like Kamala or something who has like, stretchy powers? And then there was the original Captain Marvel who was some blonde woman. Oh she's the one Rogue drained?
-
And I'm actually pretty up on the OTHER Captain Marvel because I'm a big ol' nerd about the Batman cartoon and he turned up in the spinoff stuff.
