Yeah the Bernie campaign and the subculture around it has had a huge problem with deciding that Internet clout = real clouthttps://twitter.com/LemieuxLGM/status/1241439146716979200 …

Bernie getting stomped in SC wasn't inevitable or a DNC conspiracy. It was the product of obviously bad decision-making like "let the former Ohio state senator who vigorously supported Jill Stein in 2016 handle it, and if there's bad polling ignore it" https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/21/us/politics/bernie-sanders-democrats-2020.html … pic.twitter.com/cXbt95JikN

Did everyone forget that Nina Turner is not good at winning elections Her lifetime scoreboard for elections is 1-2 She lost one Cleveland city council election, won the next one, was appointed to the state senate as a replacement, ran unopposed for her next term

Her biggest election she's ever run in, the statewide race for Secretary of State in 2014, she lost in a blowout to Jon Husted (60/40)

This is not to debate her other merits or flaws as a politician or a human being, but if it's really important to you right now that you win a big election you should be hiring people who have won elections

Yes. And if it's really important to you right now to build a movement, you should be hiring people who are good at that. Implementing Bernie's agenda will take more than just winning a big election.

Cool, then people should be happy that he made the necessary sacrifice of the election for the health of the movement rather than flipping a shit over it

You can want to win the election AND build the movement at the same time. Getting Trump re-elected by nominating Biden is not a "necessary sacrifice", it's foolishness fueled by the ideological rigidity of the don't-upset-our-corporate-sponsors Democratic establishment.

Apparently you can't win the election and build the movement at the same time, if you're excusing the huge missteps the campaign made in the name of movement building

Uhhh I just named one, which is putting together an election team that has no history of winning elections

Assuming that Nina Turner will be popular with Black voters in the South because she's popular on Twitter

I think it's good to select people based on their political positions, not just on their popularity or ability to get votes. That's a sign of integrity, not a "huge misstep". In SC, I think the Clyburn endorsement played a big role. The DNC establishment had a big bazooka there.
