Anyway they asked Mulgrew if she'd ever come back to play Janeway and she pretty much just flat out said no It's apparently not a character or a time in her life she's happy to revisit

The admiral on the show pretty much is a Janeway expy anyway Like, leaving aside the details of Janeway's history, that's how she'd react to the whole situation with Picard going rogue and shit

I would love to see Sisko on Picard. If for no other reason than to discuss Q. Picard: oh we would play complicared metaphorical games with Q regularly. Sisko: I punched him and kicked him off my station.

I wonder how he's been coping with being in that wormhole all this time

Come to think of it, I wonder what the odds are on Q showing up?

They're almost certainly not gonna bring Q into it, although given how central Q actually was to the story arc of TNG it feels weird to not have him around Like this whole cosmic threat is a hell of a thing not to get involved with

Yeah, and this is another thing that I attribute to Kurtzman not being the best writer. This seems pretty fucking important, and unless they’re saving Q for the final battle like the end of Discovery season 2 (in which case UGH) then I can’t see a way around calling it sloppy.

It's not sloppy to ignore it if it isn't relevant. TNG has a dozen or so Lovecraftian beings they also aren't addressing. Q is special just because he showed up a lot, andnhe doesn't have to show up now if he doesn't care to.

I dunno if I'd say "sloppy", it's just a thematic disconnect The bookends of TNG are Q straight up telling Picard his whole life is going to be Q's big cosmic test of humanity now, like for better or for worse that's what the show was about in the big picture

And now it's just something we've forgotten about and will never speak of again, because it does in fact kind of cheapen all this stuff happening in the wider universe

This just goes back to me just wanting a slow drama about Picard at the end of his life instead of an action show. And I’m basically an audience of one.
