The idea of voting for the Republicans if they "toned down their racism" (i.e., Lee Atwater) is rather odd, considering they already do. Like, a lot. Like, uhh, Stephen Miller is a literal white nationalist. We saw how they handled the exposé on that, right?

Ah, but the non-Xenophobic fiscal conservatives who are being pushed out by the new federalists are not that far ideologically from progressives the Democrats are pushing out. Put those two together and they outflank both major parties.

What are you even saying These screenshots are of self-IDed "progressives" who specifically do want to align with what they see as Trump's fiscal generosity + a "toned down" version of his xenophobia

There's no third party coming out of this, even if this theory were completely true it just means the two parties are swapping members - the business GOP become Democrats, the "progressives" become Republicans

Sorry, wasn’t referring to the screenshots specifically, but I do think we’re witnessing a moment when the parties “switch” again, much like you refer in this tweet.

Okay but you have it backwards, the "progressives" aren't going to link up with the Never Trump Republicans, they're saying right here they want to link up with Trump himself

Because they're not actually progressive, this is red fascism in action

I can’t speak for the two replies out of 400+ he cropped this tweet with, it’s just my opinion we’re approaching that moment (and it won’t be with/alongside Trump). In fact, it will likely be a post-Boomer realignment, but there’s clearly a shift going on in both parties.

People forget fiscal conservatives hate market manipulation, debt and tax giveaways, ie-everything the current GOP is. Remove the Christian fundamentalist ideology and replace it with a social responsibility most of the younger generation supports, and it’s not hard to envision

Okay you're just talking about something you made up in your head The "progressives" you're talking about despise fiscal conservatism more than anything else in the world, the WHOLE THING WE'RE DISCUSSING is they are leaving the DEMOCRATS because they hate fiscal conservatives

They are ABSOLUTELY not going to form a third party with fiscally conservative Republicans, it's the exact opposite They just said that if Trump abandons fiscal conservatism they will happily overlook everything else they despise about him and become Trumpist Republicans

Frankly, even though I personally hate and fear these people, I do in fact share their general sense of disgust with fiscal conservatives They have no real constituency to speak of and they're rapidly going to fade into irrelevance over time

It's the 21st century, nobody gets to win an election for anything without writing big checks and promising big cash payoffs
