Seriously. I think not putting fear into the youth might have been the media’s greatest mistake.

does anyone know how different this virus is from the flu and could they explain it. does anyone know if you can get a positive result from having the regular flu

They are two different families of viruses and the test for one will not show positive for the other, nor will a vaccine made for one work to prevent the other

In practical terms, the most important two differences are 1) you're a contagious carrier of the coronavirus for much longer before you get sick, an average of five days, whereas the flu starts making you sick within one day, and 2) the coronavirus is at least ten times deadlier

In terms of symptoms, they say when you first get sick the coronavirus is different from the flu and the common cold in that it doesn't affect the upper respiratory system much, i.e. you're much less likely to get sneezing, a runny nose or phlegm in your throat

The coronavirus is more likely to start out with a deep cough, fever, aches and pains, etc without a phase of "the sniffles" That's not set in stone by any means though, and if you start feeling sick at all and can't get tested it's best to assume you're infected
